MOWING, MAINTENENCE, CLEANUPS

LAKE SUNAPEE LANDSCAPING & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Mowing just sort of happened. We have always done spring and fall cleanups for people, and keeping gardens, walks, and other areas weeded and picked up has been a staple of our business for years. We never did mowing ourselves until 2006. Prior to that we sub-contracted our mowing accounts to friends who concentrate on that particular endeavor. That year we picked up several clients after our friends had filled all their mowing routes. We needed a solution, so we entered the mowing business. We limit this to 1 day a week, but we provide a service that we feel is un-equaled.

To us mowing is not just cutting the grass. We mow, trim, rake, sweep, and we end our trip by cleaning off the driveway, walks, patios, and decks. Gardens can be maintained during the same visit. This is a perfect time for observing problems or needs that are becoming apparent around the property, which need, or will be in need, of attention.

Spring and fall cleanups: Changing seasons bring changes to properties, and provide opportunities to address needs and deficits. Landscapers have 3 distinct cleanup seasons:

Fall brings piles of leaves and dead plant material to clean up. This is the season to get grass to take root, and to ready plants for the long winter ahead. Hearty spring growth starts with fall cleanup and prep.

Winter cleanup season is when many landscapers clear out dead and dyeing trees and branches. Frozen ground and snow cover makes tree work easier, and there is less impact to plant and animal life at this time of year.

Spring is when the damage from winter's cold and storms has to be cleared away. Spring cleanup makes properties ready for another year's growth. Weeding, cultivating, fertilizing, edging, and mulching occur now. Most new plantings are done during this period. Establishing your garden before the growing season gets too far sets the tone for the year.
